Insertion Type Thermal Mass Flow Meter

Use the same Mass flow meter for different line sizes

How do you measure the mass flow rate of gases in your industry?

Precise measurement of mass flow rates of industrial gases is important for any industry, as it relates to energy savings and process quality. Industry experts always seek an easy-to-fit and operate solution.

Manas Microsystems offers an insertion-type Thermal Mass Flow Meter, an ideal choice in such cases. This flow meter can measure both instantaneous flow rate & total flow precisely. Process pressure and temperature fluctuations pose no problem in measurements, as this flow meter does not need any pressure or temperature variations. It can easily be installed on gas pipelines or ducts.

The sensor has no moving parts. Hence, it does not need any maintenance, except for occasional cleaning with compressed air. The sensor is straightforward to install, as one must only insert and screw it in the socket welded to the pipeline, and align the sensor, as per the instructions in the manual, on the pipeline/duct. The necessary straight length of pipe on both sides of the sensor must be ensured. The sensor is connected to the electronics, so the installation is complete. It is so simple!

Features

  • Direct measurement of mass flow.
  • No pressure or temperature compensation is required
  • 40:1 turndown ratio
  • Easy to clean
  • Remote readings are available on the mobile App
  • Pulse, milliamps, or RS485 output for networking
  • The maintenance-free flow sensor for air and gas temperatures with a fast response of better than 0.5 m/s
  • Flexible mounting length up to 600 m

Applications

  • Compressed air/ Gas Consumption measurement
  • Gas measurement at very low-pressure flowing conditions
  • Fuel Gas like CNG consumption measurement and control
  • Automobile gas engine testing
  • Industrial oxygen flow measurement and control
  • Furnace and burner control
  • Biogas measurement in biogas digester systems

Benefits

  • An ideal solution for various industrial applications such as compressed air flow measurement and monitoring of fuel gases.
  • Very useful for process improvement or energy saving activities.
  • Capable of measuring many more gases if their properties are known.
  • As there are no moving parts, it can have a longer life as it is immune to vibrations, unlike many other meters
  • The large turndown ratio ensures wide measuring range
  • Same meter can be used for a range of pipeline sizes, if the same medium is flowing in them.

FAQ's

The insertion type thermal mass flow meter is used to measure the precise mass flow rates of industrial gases or compressed air, which is important for any industry as it relates to energy savings and process quality. This is an easy-to-fit and operate solution, which is always sought by industry experts.

An insertion-type Thermal Mass Flow Meter, operates on the following principle :

Whenever a fluid of a certain temperature is passed over any substance hotter than the fluid, the heat of the hot substance is taken away because of forced convection by the fluid, and the temperature of that substance drops. This fall in temperature is related to the mass flow of the fluid passing over the substance. If one can measure the amount of heat taken away by the flowing fluid one can calculate the mass flow rate.

Here are some of the advantages of An Insertion Type Thermal Mass Flow Meter :

  1. It can measure both instantaneous flow rate & total flow precisely.
  2. Process pressure and temperature fluctuations pose no problem in measurements, as this flow meter does not need any pressure or temperature variations.
  3. It can easily be installed on gas pipelines or ducts.

The sensor has no moving parts. Hence, it does not need any maintenance, except for cleaning with compressed air, occasionally
