Insertion Type Ultrasonic Flow Meter

An easy to install Insertion Ultrasonic Flow Meter

  • It works on Transit Time or Time of Flight principle.
  • It utilizes two transducers that functions as both Ultrasonic transmitter and receiver.
  • The transducer is inserted in the surface of the closed pipes.
  • The transit time flow meter measures the time it takes for an ultrasonic signal transmitted from one transducer to cross the pipe and be received by second transducer.
  • The flow is then measured by comparing the upstream and downstream time of Ultrasonic signal.
  • With no flow through the pipe the transit time would be equal in both directions.

  • Auto adjustable to various pipe materials.
  • Quick and easy to install and operate.
  • Budget-friendly and adaptable.
  • Hot tapping possible – Can save a lot of time and money wasted if the line would be isolated & flow stopped for installation.
  • Highly accurate and reliable.
  • There are no moving parts, no pressure drops, and no maintenance requirements.

Applications (*)

  • Municipal water supply lines
  • Large pipelines
  • Utility Plants in all industries
  • Refineries – Cooling Towers
  • Pharma industry
  • Power plant

(* – For clear water applications only)

  • Can be installed without disrupting the flow process, reducing downtime and potential leakage points.
  • If maintenance or calibration is required, it can be done without shutting down the process.
  • Insertion type meters can be used in a wide range of pipe sizes, making them versatile for various industrial applications.
  • insertion-type ultrasonic flow meters are less prone to mechanical failure or wear over time.

It works on the principle of ultrasonic transit-time technology. The meter contains one or more pairs of ultrasonic transducers that send and receive ultrasonic signals through the fluid. By measuring the time it takes for the signals to travel upstream and downstream, the flow rate can be calculated.

When properly installed and calibrated, insertion type ultrasonic flow meters can provide highly accurate flow measurements, often with an accuracy of ±1-2% of the actual flow rate.
